Blurb: When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

My Thoughts: This starts off with Feyre killing a wolf who is a fae. She doesn't know that but she had an inkling that it wasn't a regular wolf. Fast forward a couple of days and a great hulking beast comes and demands that she make reparations for killing that fae male. Little does she know that she is there to break the curse on Tamlin. They start getting to know one another and he's an asshole and she likes to rebel against what he tells her to do. Eventually, some stuff is about to happen and he sends her back to her family. He tells her he loves her three times but she can't make herself say it. She comes back after a while and he has been captured because he didn't break the curse so she decides to go save him after realizing that she loves him. She manages to save him and break the curse on his entire court which makes it possible for the Fae to rebel against Amarantha. It ends with Feyre transformed into a high Fae and them going back to Tamlin's estate.
So it's no mystery how much I hate Tamlin. He's controlling, an asshole, and treats Feyre like she's delicate. During the Calan Mai celebration, she meets another high Fae who she has an immediate connection with. Yes, Rhysand doesn't really show his best side of himself during this book as he uses her to further his own agenda. He does end up helping her under the mountain and they make a pact that for healing her she has to go with him to the Night Court for one week a month after the whole under the mountain ordeal is over with.
I first read this book when it was released in 2015 so this is a re-read for me. A Court of Thorns and Roses holds up to the hype it has received since it was released. I actually like this book more now than I did when I first read it. I definitely recommend reading this whole series but you should probably wait until you are a teenager or older as there are some love scenes in it.
